General and Palletised Cargo Shipping to and from the UAE
Cartons, pallets and boxed business goods make up much of the cargo moving to and from the UAE. Mizan coordinates general and palletised cargo by sea, air or road, starting from the details that matter: what is packed, how it is packed, its dimensions and weight, and where it needs to be collected and delivered.
Cargo We Can Assess
General cargo covers most packed business goods that do not need special temperature control or out-of-the-ordinary handling. Typical enquiries include:
- Cartoned goods — boxed products, supplies and stock
- Palletised goods — cartons or items strapped or wrapped onto pallets
- Mixed shipments — some cartons, some pallets, sometimes from more than one supplier
- Crated or packed items that can be handled with standard equipment
Every enquiry is assessed against the actual goods, packing and route. Goods that contain batteries, powders or other regulated materials need a product, mode and document review before Mizan can confirm acceptance.
Packing and Handling Requirements
How cargo is packed affects how it can be loaded, how much space it takes and how it is handled at each stage. When you enquire, describe:
| Detail | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Packed dimensions | Decide how pallets or cartons fit in a container, vehicle or aircraft |
| Gross weight per piece | Affects loading method, vehicle choice and chargeable weight |
| Stackability | Non-stackable pallets need more space; stackable ones can share height |
| Marks and labels | Clear shipping marks help identify pieces at collection, receiving and delivery |
| Packaging type | Cartons, pallets, crates or mixed packing are handled differently |

Share your supplier’s proposed packing details and any handling needs so packing, loading and unloading responsibilities can be confirmed before booking.
Suitable Freight Options
The right option depends on volume, weight, route and timing:
- LCL sea freight — shared container space for smaller volumes of cartons or pallets.
- FCL sea freight — a container allocated to your shipment when the volume or weight suits it.
- Air freight — when arrival time matters more than freight cost.
- Road freight — collection, delivery and movements within the UAE and the wider GCC land corridor.
Collection and Delivery Considerations
Collection and delivery planning depends on the sites at both ends. Tell us whether each site has a loading dock or forklift, any access-time restrictions, and who will load and unload the goods. Pallets delivered to a site without unloading equipment may need a different vehicle or extra handling, which the quotation should state.
If goods need to wait between movements, Mizan can coordinate warehousing for receiving, storage and dispatch. For a single agreement covering every leg, see door-to-door freight.
Information Needed to Quote
A practical checklist for a general cargo enquiry:
- Collection address and delivery address (or port/airport if not door-to-door)
- Goods description and whether any item contains batteries or powders
- Number of cartons and/or pallets
- Packed dimensions and gross weight per piece, and in total
- Whether pallets are stackable
- Readiness date and any required delivery window
- Which stages you need: collection, freight, clearance, storage, delivery
- Loading and unloading facilities at each site
Your quotation sets out the scope, exclusions and how long the price is valid. Responsibility for customs clearance, duties and taxes depends on the agreed terms and should be stated before you book.
Pallet Shipping in the UAE
For pallet shipping in the UAE or into the country, share the number of pallets, their dimensions and weights, and whether forklift unloading is available at delivery.
FAQs
General Cargo Shipping FAQs
- Not always. Loose cartons can be quoted too. Tell us whether goods are cartoned, palletised or mixed, and Mizan will confirm the handling and freight option that suits them before booking.
- Only if the cargo and packing allow it. Tell us whether pallets are stackable and how much weight each can carry on top. Non-stackable pallets use more space and this is reflected in the quotation.
- Provide enquiry type (business importer or freight company), supplier locations, delivery address, goods description, package count, dimensions, gross weight, readiness date and required stages. Disclose batteries, powder materials and other handling needs.
- Yes. Mizan accepts China-to-UAE sea freight enquiries with no minimum shipment quantity. LCL can suit cargo that does not need a full container. Share packed dimensions, weight and goods details for the applicable service and charges.
- Do not assume cargo insurance is included. Ask for the insurance arrangements, coverage and exclusions to be confirmed in writing as part of your shipment quotation.
- Transit time depends on the route, transport mode, booking availability, cargo readiness, customs processing and final delivery arrangements. Request an estimate that distinguishes main transport time from the full collection-to-delivery timeline.
