FCL Shipping and Full Container Loads to and from the UAE
Book a container allocated to your shipment when your cargo volume, weight or handling needs make a full container load the better fit. Mizan helps businesses select a suitable container, arrange collection and loading, and connect ocean freight with customs clearance and UAE delivery according to the scope you agree.
What Is FCL Shipping?
FCL stands for full container load. The container is allocated to your shipment alone: your goods are loaded at the agreed collection point, the container is sealed, and it travels by sea without being shared with other shippers’ cargo.
Businesses usually consider full container shipping when they have enough cargo to make good use of the space, when goods are bulky or heavy, or when they prefer fewer handling points between loading and delivery. It is not automatically the right choice for every larger order — the comparison depends on the full scope of the shipment.
Mizan coordinates FCL shipping for business cargo moving to and from the UAE, connecting the container booking with collection, loading, ocean freight, customs clearance and final delivery as agreed in your quotation.
Container Selection
The right container depends on what you are shipping, not just how much. To recommend a suitable option, Mizan needs:
- A goods description and how the cargo is packed (cartons, pallets, crates or loose items)
- The number of packages, their packed dimensions and the gross weight
- Whether items are stackable, fragile or unusually long or heavy
- Any batteries, powder materials or other goods that need handling review
Common options include 20ft standard, 40ft standard and 40ft high cube containers. You can compare their typical internal space in the container explorer on our sea freight page. The final choice is confirmed against your packing list and the space actually available on the booking.
China Collection and Loading
For China-to-UAE FCL shipments, Mizan directly manages the operating stages in China. Once your order is confirmed, the container can be arranged and sent to your supplier, the goods collected and loading completed.
Three business days — what it covers
If your order comes from several suppliers, the goods may need to be collected and combined before loading. See China supplier consolidation for how that is planned.
FCL vs LCL
Both options move cargo by sea. The difference is whether the container is yours alone or shared. Neither is always cheaper or faster; compare them on the full quoted scope for the same shipment.
| FCL (full container) | LCL (shared container) | |
|---|---|---|
| Container use | Allocated to your shipment | Shared with other shipments |
| Typical fit | Larger volumes, bulky or heavy cargo | Cargo that does not need a full container |
| Handling | Loaded and sealed for your cargo | Consolidated with other cargo before sailing |
| How charges are framed | Per container, plus agreed services | Based on your cargo’s volume or weight, plus agreed services |
| What to compare | Full scope: collection, freight, clearance, delivery | Full scope, including consolidation and handling |

Full Quoted Cost and Delivery Scope
An FCL quotation should make clear which stages are included and which are not. Before booking, check that your quotation states:
- The collection point and the delivery point (port, warehouse or door)
- The container type and the cargo it has been quoted for
- Whether origin handling, ocean freight, customs clearance, unloading and delivery are included
- Who is responsible for duties and taxes, and on which trade terms
- Whether cargo insurance is included, and what it covers
- The validity period of the quotation
If you need the full journey handled, see door-to-door freight. For China-to-UAE shipments where duties and delivery should be included in one quotation, see DDP sea freight.
Full Container Shipping to Dubai and the UAE
FCL shipping to or from the UAE gives your cargo a container of its own. For full container shipping into Dubai or other UAE destinations, the quotation should name the container type, the origin and port of arrival, and whether clearance, unloading and delivery are included. Compare with shared space on the LCL shipping page, or read LCL vs FCL.

- No. It describes container arrangement, supplier collection and loading within three business days of order confirmation. It is not a sailing, flight-departure, transit or final-delivery commitment.
- Transit time depends on the route, transport mode, booking availability, cargo readiness, customs processing and final delivery arrangements. Request an estimate that distinguishes main transport time from the full collection-to-delivery timeline.
- Do not assume cargo insurance is included. Ask for the insurance arrangements, coverage and exclusions to be confirmed in writing as part of your shipment quotation.
